Aviation Summer Bucket List

With longer and warmer days approaching, it is the perfect time to create a bucket list for Summer!  Here at JETPUBS we love aviation, so we came up with 10 aviation-related activities that you could enjoy when warmer weather hits.  Some may include travel and others may be take place right in your backyard.  Leave us a note in the comments about what you think should be added to our Aviation Summer Bucket List.

Fly a Kite

Head to your local park and fly kites, a great activity for gorgeous summer days.

Flight School with Paper Airplanes and Hula Hoops
Making aviation fun for all ages!

This activity can be done inside or outside; all you need is paper and hula hoops to make your own flight course.  Designate each hoop as different point values and see who can earn the most points flying their paper airplane through the hoops.  Hula hoops can be placed in trees or hung from banisters to make this activity fun for the whole family.

Airplane Viewing at your Local Airport

A fun activity for the whole family, this viewing area at MSP has no entrance fee, picnic tables, and a

great view of airplanes taking off and landing.

Sea Plane Landings or Sea Plane Flights
On the water or in the air, enjoying a ride in a sea plane should be on every aviator’s bucket list.

There are places around the world that you can see Sea Planes in action. Here is a list of Minnesota and Wisconsin locations you could see these amazing planes landing or taking off.  Like to take a ride on a sea plane? You can check out this outfitter.

Visit Dayton Ohio – Birth Place of Aviation

Deemed the birthplace of Aviation where the Wright brothers took flight, Dayton Ohio, would make for an awesome summer getaway.  You can check out the Dayton Aviation Heritage National Historical Park and the National Museum of the U.S. Air Force, as well as many other great aviation-themed activities!

Air Balloon Festivals

One of the oldest forms of aviation is all around us. Check out if one of these festivals is near you!

Smithsonian’s National Air and Space Museum

Located in Washington DC, this museum has thousands of displays with objects related to aviation.  There are guided tours, educational activities, and even lectures throughout the year.  The best part: it’s FREE.  Learn more about the museum here.

Put together a Model Airplane
Channel your inner mechanic!

Building model airplanes can be fun for the whole family!  A great indoor activity when it may be raining outside.  Check out this easy model for beginners.

Take a Vacation and Fly There

Perhaps the easiest yet most costly adventure on this list.   Plan a summer getaway, maybe to even visit some of the other places mentioned on this list!  Head to your local airport to jet set off into a great summer vacation.
